Atraverda

Atraverda is an advanced materials company that exploits a conductive ceramic known worldwide through its trademark, Ebonex®, a platform technology with a range of commercial CleanTech applications in the power storage, water treatment and construction markets. Atraverda’s current focus is in the multi-billion dollar power storage market, where its technology is utilised in the production of batteries that are smaller, lighter and more reliable. Atraverda most recently completed a funding round of £10 million.
ImmunoBiology

ImmBio is a vaccine company developing the next generation of anti-infective vaccines. The portfolio addresses areas of high unmet need, where the risk and consequence of infection are severe. ImmBio has an established product and process patent estate around Heat shock protein Complexes, and has licensed in complementary technology for specific applications. Vaccines are being developed to address influenza, tuberculosis, hepatitis and meningitis. ImmBio most recently completed the second phase of a £5.5 million funding round.
Metalysis

Metalysis is an innovative speciality metals business. Metalysis holds the exclusive worldwide exploitation rights to the FFC Cambridge process – this enables the efficient and environmentally friendly reduction of metals from the metal oxide. Initial focus is on the production of Tantalum and Titanium, though the process can be applied to a wide range of metals, alloys and carbides. Following the successful completion of a £5m funding round, the company is concentrating on the scale-up of production capacity.

Prosurgics manufactures and distributes a laparoscopic camera-holding robot called FreeHand. The product entered the market in April 2009 and has achieved wide critical acclaim in the medical industry – against a background of increased demand in the application of robotics in surgery. FreeHand achieved 510k FDA approval in the U.S. in May 2009 and a recent, successful £3m funding round is aimed at accelerating the FreeHand into the European and U.S. markets.

Sensortec has developed a robust and adaptable electrochemical biosensor technology platform based on immunoassay techniques. Sensortec’s initial focus is in environmental monitoring and food quality assurance, where precision of results can be greatly improved, while reducing sample preparation time.
CIP Technologies

Through its chairmanship of CIP, Chord Capital has an equity stake in the company. CIP is a manufacturer of photonic components as well as a world-leading design house and prototyper of innovative optoelectronic solutions for a range of OEM customers. The company is embarking upon a radical new product platform aimed at addressing the huge, but largely unmet demand for broadband internet connectivity. This multi-channel array transceiver is effectively an optical PCB.
